The Public Council of the Ukrainian National Council for Radio and Television Broadcasting has met to discuss drafts of two media laws recommended by a parliamentary committee.
The first relates to amendments to a law on the transparency of ownership of providers of multichannel TV services with national coverage.
Of particular concern is the actual owner of Zeonbud, which operates a nationwide DTT operation, and one member of the Public Council called for restrictions on all foreign owners.
Meanwhile the second law relates to improvements to the procedure for dismissing and appointing members of the National Council.
Also discussed were decisions taken by the National Council regarding the non-renewal of licences for five regional channels that relayed the channel 112 Ukraine.
