Sky’s production and distribution arm, Sky Vision, has officially transitioned into NBCUniversal Distribution.
The eight year-old Sky Vision had been responsible for 6,500 hours of primetime programming including Sky Original Productions and third-party content.
NBUUniversal will now take on the company’s programme sales, while funding and production has been moved to newly created Sky Studios.
It was announced in April that Sky Vision would be folded following last year’s £29.7 billion takeover of Sky by NBC’s parent Comcast.
In an email sent to staff, the former Sky Vision boss Jane Millichip, who is now COO of Sky Studios ,said: “Between 2012 and 2019 we grew the company from its indie roots and £8m revenue-base to the global success it is today, with revenues in excess of £240m, investments in 10 production companies in the UK and US, and a content catalogue of exceptional quality and commercial appeal.”
She thanked the Sky Vision team, its partners and clients.
