QVC launches second Ultra HD channel on Astra

September 30, 2019 13.41 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

German home-shopping broadcaster QVC Deutschland will launch a second Ultra HD channel on Astra (19.2° East) on October 1, 2019.

QVC Deutschland has signed a long-term agreement with Astra satellite operator SES to distribute QVC2 UHD, which will be offered unencrypted.

The companies are also expanding their partnership: “We are also providing a satellite uplink for the new UHD channel. QVC reaches over 118 million TV households across Europe through our Astra satellites,” said Christoph Mühleib, managing director of Astra Deutschland.

In Germany, the channel will reach over 17.5 million satellite households.

QVC Deutschland launched its first UHD channel, QVC UHD, on Astra in December 2017.
