New British streaming service BritBox has confirmed distribution deals with Samsung, Freeview Play and YouView.
The agreement with Samsung will give the BritBox app a presence on the Tizen range of Samsung TVs that have been in the market since 2015.
BritBox will also be rolled out to the 5 million users of Freeview Play when the ITV-led service goes live in the autumn. The Freeview Play agreement will place BritBox on several dozen models from Sony, Digihome, JVC, Logik, Luxor, Polaroid, Techwood, Toshiba, amongst others.
Owen Jenkinson, Marketing Director, Freeview said: “Our viewers love great British TV, so BritBox is a fantastic addition to the Freeview line up, providing extra options to top up on the best of free TV they already enjoy via the nation’s biggest TV platform.”
YouView set-top boxes will also be hosting the BritBox app by the end of 2019, making the new streaming service accessible to millions of additional households across the nation.
“Our fantastic partners indicate the appetite for our exciting, new, on-demand service. We look forward to announcing additional distribution deals in the future,” said Reemah Sakaan, group launch director for ITV SVOD.
It’s already possible to register for the £5.99 per month service on the BritBox website.
