DTT operator Arqiva has hinted the amount of capacity occupied on its DTT multiplexes may fall.
Announcing its financial results, the group said it currently has capacity of 32 video streams on its main DTT multiplexes. However, it expects “utilisation may reduce as a small number of customers review their channel portfolios”.
Contracts are typically of between three and six year duration.
Meanwhile, the project to clear the 700MHz band (694 MHz to 790 MHz) of DTT services remains on track. Ofcom plans to auction the capacity for new 5G services.
At 30 June 2019, 66% of Clearance events had been successfully completed including the conclusion of Clearance events in Wales.
Revenues grew 2.7% to £990.4 million including a gain of £600,000 from Arqiva’s former Solutions business.
While Terrestrial Broadcast revenues grew by 0.4%, Satellite and Media slipped back 7.7% as Arqiva reduces its focus on Playout and Occasional Use products ahead of a full withdrawal.
