Beeb, the BBC’s recently announced voice assistant, is to be made available internationally.
The announcement was made Tuesday at the BBC Global News Digital Upfronts in London.
Beeb, which has been designed to work in all smart speakers, TV and mobile devices, will be commercialised outside the UK. Brands are being invited to speak to the BBC about their needs whole the product is still at the development stage.
The BBC is also launching two new content platforms on BBC.com: BBC Future You which will focus on wellness, and BBC Future Planet which revolves around sustainability.
Lori Suchcicki, SVP Advertising Sales EMEA at BBC Global News, said: “Audio is a space in which we’ve been at the forefront for almost a century, and these projects demonstrate our continuing innovation and ambition to be the best news organisation in the world, both for audiences and commercial partners.”
The BBC sees the assistant as an extension of its existing public service values, by giving licence fee payers a trusted guide through the digital maze.
