The founder of BFMTV has told a press conference that Orange should be free to resume the retransmission of his channels.
BFMTV, RMC Discovery and RMC Story had been removed from the French distributor’s platform on Thursday as the deadline for a new agreement with parent Altice approached.
The channels are all freely available on the DTT platform, but Altice proposed charging for them as part of a new distribution deal that would also include catch-up TV services.
In his statement, Alain Weill agreed that the two offers should be seen as distinct, a demand made earlier by Orange chief executive Stephane Richard.
It’s anticipated that an equivalent operator will also be made to Free that removed the channels two weeks ago.
Altice has agreements in place with Bouygues Telecom, Canal + and SFR.
