Google joins Deutsche TV-Plattform

Google is a new member of Deutsche TV-Plattform. The German industry association now has a total of 56 members.

“We are very pleased that we were able to gain Google for Deutsche TV-Plattform. With the IP distribution of content, AI and machine learning, 5G and addressable TV, we are now addressing many relevant fields for the media industry beyond traditional TV distribution,” said Andre Prahl, chairman of Deutsche TV-Plattform.

“The participation of Google – as well as Zattoo last year – shows that Deutsche TV-Plattform offers an interesting forum for internet players in addition to traditional media houses,” added Prahl.

Robert Richter, manager partnerships media & entertainment at Google EMEA, said: “Technology is a driving factor in all areas of the TV industry and has not only fundamentally changed consumer behaviour, but has also posed new challenges for the entire industry. Google’s mission in the media industry is to connect content viewers with content providers.”

“We can only live up to this mission if we tackle challenges and opportunities in a spirit of partnership and on an interdisciplinary level. Deutsche TV-Plattform offers us an ideal forum for this interdisciplinary exchange,” added Richter.
