German network operator NetCom BW has commenced offering its customers waipu.tv as a TV service.
The regional telecommunications company is using the cooperation model that the purchasing subsidiary of German industry association BREKO agreed with waipu.tv operator Exaring in January 2018.
To start the service, network operators have to set up an IP peering (network coupling) and an interface to Exaring for customer data management.
“With waipu.tv, we can both increase customer loyalty of our existing customers and attract new customers to us and the product,” said Bernhard Palm, managing director of NetCom BW.
Via waipu.tv, customers can access over 100 TV channels, most of which are offered in HD quality, video-on-demand and additional functions such as recording, instant restart and live pause. The multiscreen service is available via smart TV, Amazon Fire TV stick, Apple TV, Android TV, Google Chromecast, smartphone, tablet, laptop and PC.
