Swiss media users are consuming an increasing amount of content via the internet.
More than half of the usage (TV/video: 56%, radio/audio: 54%) is already accessed through the net, according to the Web Media Monitor 2019, compiled by German consulting and market research company Goldmedia for the Swiss Federal Office of Communications (OFCOM).
In total, there are almost 600 online video and audio services in Switzerland, the majority of which are offered by established media brands from the TV, radio and print markets.
The attractiveness for the advertising industry has increased, reflected by the positive expectations of the content providers: They expect annual advertising growth of 49% for the online video sector and 18% for online audio until 2021.
The willingness among consumers to pay for media content on the internet is also increasing.
