Matjaz Merkan has been appointed the new CEO of Telekom Slovenije, effective September 16.
He replaces Rudolf Skobe, who left the post in April.
Slovenia Times reports that Merkan was formerly the head of the US-owned company Weiler Abrasives.
He was one of three candidates shortlisted for the position at Telekom Slovenije, which will be for a four-year term.
In his comments about his appointment, Merkan spoke of Telekom Slovenije being an “excellent company” that will have to become “even more digitised, advanced and agile” in the future.
