Amazon Prime Video has agreed distribution with Altice Europe’s SFR, giving subscribers access to its streaming service via the set-top box.
In a story first reported by Variety, Amazon is now building agreements with pay-TV companies that include British Telecom, Deutsche Telecom, Telecom Italia, Orange Spain, Vodafone, Telefonica and Liberty Global/Virgin Media.
Its an area that has already proven fertile territory for rival Netflix.
The rollout on SFR will present a huge task for engineers. The deal covers LaBox SFR Fibre, SFR Box Plus and SFR Box 8 set-top boxes.
Following Prime Video’s debut in France the streamer will then go live in Altice’s other territories of Portugal, Israel and Dominican Republic.
