Disney will just offer Disney Junior on German pay-TV platform Sky Deutschland in future.
Disney Cinemagic will be closed down on September 30, 2019, while Disney XD will be removed from the Sky platform, but continue to be offered by all other platform operators. This was confirmed to Broadband TV News by spokesmen from Sky and Disney.
Besides Sky Deutschland, the closure of Sky Cinemagic will also affect Deutsche Telekom with MagentaTV and Teleclub/Swisscom in Switzerland.
Disney XD will continue to be available on MagentaTV, Unitymedia and Vodafone, in Austria on A1 TV from A1 Telekom Austria and in Switzerland on Teleclub and UPC.
In addition to Sky, Disney Junior can be received on MagentaTV, Unitymedia, Vodafone, A1 TV, Teleclub and UPC.
Following the closure of Disney Cinemagic, Sky will offer its customers the new film channel Sky Cinema Special HD from October 1, on which pop-up specials will be shown 24 hours per day, starting with comic heroes. The channel will be available to all subscribers of the Cinema package, regardless of the reception method.
In other changes, Boomerang will become available to Sky customers via all cable networks – including Vodafone and Unitymedia – and via IPTV from October 8. At the same time, TNT Film will be made available to Sky customers on the cable networks of Vodafone and Unitymedia in addition to the existing DTH satellite distribution.
