Telefónica, Vodafone and Orange are fighting to secure new sports TV viewers in Spain in public establishments such as bars, hotels and restaurants.
El Economista reports that this comes alongside the acquisition of rights, totalling €238 million per season, to LaLiga from Mediapro.
It adds that Telefónica already holds the rights to LaLiga for individual homes, for which it is paying €980 million per season and selling on to other providers.
Telefónica has been the first to announce the renewal of rights to establishments, offering a package that includes LaLiga, the Champions League, Formula 1 and the NBA, for a promotional price of €320 a month for the first six months.
Meanwhile, Vodafone has introduced an offer for new customers costing €302.5 a month including VAT and €510 a month excluding VAT for betting shops.
Orange has launched a promotion that allows establishments to buy Orange TV for €259 a month excluding VAT for the whole season.
