Freenet gains with waipu.tv and Freenet TV

August 8, 2019 21.48 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

German internet TV platform waipu.tv has increased its number of registered customers on June 30, 2019 by 923,900 year-on-year to around 1.748 million customers.

Of these, around 332,000 are paying customers in a subscription model, as parent company Freenet announced during the presentation of its business figures for the first half of 2019. This is almost double the figure for the previous year (June 30, 2018: around 174,000 subscribers).

The target of 350,000 subscribers by the end of 2019 has thus already been almost reached.

The Freenet TV platform, which is broadcast via DVB-T2 and DTH satellite, also recorded growth: The number of revenue-generating users rose by 37,000 year-on-year to 1.037 million customers (June 30, 2018: 1 million customers), slightly exceeding the long-term target of over one million subscription customers.
