The former Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko has become a shareholder in Zeonbud, the country’s main DTT operator.
According to Telekritika, the news was provided by Tatiana Popova, the former deputy minister of information policy, who added that Zeonbud was owned by Dmitry Firtash, Rinat Akhmetov and the Yanukovych family.
However, following last year’s decision of the regulator to block the state company RRT’s plans to build its own DTT network, one of Zeonbud’s owners changed, with Poroshenko apparently replacing the Yanukovych family.
RRT currently operates the T2 multiplex and Zeonbud has been in dispute with the regulator for failing to sign a cooperation agreement with RTT, which provides it with services, for 2019.
As a result, the regulator threatened to disconnect Zeonbud this March, ahead of the country’s presidential election.
