Ukraine is to launch a worldwide Russian-language TV channel to strengthen its position in the information war with Russia.
Quoted by Ukrinform, Kyrylo Tymoshenko, the deputy head of the Presidential Office, said that such a channel is needed to fight for the minds of Ukrainians living in the occupied territories of Donbas and in Crimea, as well as of Russians in Russia.
He added that although the Presidential Office is of the view that the channel should be state owned, it should also carry the best content from private broadcasters.
In practice, the channel is likely to run by the state-owned UA.TV.
