Bidders for 5G licences in Romania will be required to pay the state much less than was previously expected.
According to Ziaurul Financiar, quoting the regulator ANCOM, the minimum price will be €580 million, along with fees for blocks in frequency wavebands.T
he latter will start at €1 million for an unmatched 5Hz block in the 3400-3490 MHz band for the period 2020-2025, with the most expensive being €45 million for a 5MHz pair block in the 700MHz band.
Earlier, the former PM advisor Darius Valcov, who resigned from the government in early, had said that bidders could expect to pay a starting fee of €1 billion for 5G licences.
The bidders for the licences are likely to include Orange, Telekom Romania, Vodafone Romania and Digi.
