Canal+ Group has acquired the African film studio and international TV network Rok for an undisclosed fee.
Under the terms of the deal, which comprises production, content distribution and publishing channels, Rok’s parent company Iroko will also take full control of JV Iroko+, the leading SVOD platform in French-speaking Africa.
In addition, Mary Njoku, the founder of Rok, will remain DG of Rok Productions and retain a shareholding in the company.
Rok has been developed by Iroko, one of the leading African digital content distributors of Nollywood production, since 2013.
To date it has made over 540 movies and 25 original series in Africa alone.
