The Hungarian national transmission company Antenna Hungária (AH) will continue to operate the country’s digital terrestrial TV network for a further 12 years after its current licence expires in September 2020.
This follows a tender published by the regulator NMHH on April 10 in which it was the only candidate.
AH and NMHH may now sign an authorisation agreement for operations in September.
Under the terms of AH’s new licence, it will be required to operate two DVB-T MPEG-4 AVC networks to ensure that public service broadcasts remain unaltered and free of charge with current receivers, achieving at least 98% retail coverage.
It will also have to operate three new technology (DVB-T2 HEVC) networks allocated to pay-TV services.
