The global cloud networking provider GTT Communications has agreed to buy KPN International for around €50 million in cash, on a cash and debt-free basis.
KPN International, which is division of KPN N.V., headquartered in the Netherlands, operates a global IP network serving enterprise and carrier clients.
Commenting on a deal, GTT president and CEO Rick Calder said: “The acquisition of KPN International deepens our market presence in the European region.
“The world-class resources contributed from this acquisition, including a highly experienced team, international network assets and a deep roster of multinational clients, will help us deliver on our purpose of connecting people across organisations around the world and to every application in the cloud.”
KPN notes that the transaction includes the sale of international fibre assets and network points of presence (POPs) in 21 countries.
It is also in line with the company’s strategy to accelerate simplification and the proceeds will be retained to increase operational and financial flexibility.
The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter, subject to obtaining the required regulatory approvals.
KPN says that following its completion it will continue delivering international services to Dutch Business customers as part of its ICT-services offering. As part of the transaction, it will enter into a master services agreement with GTT to ensure continuity of international network services to its customers.
