Swiss commercial TV broadcaster 3 Plus Group is currently exploring the possibility of setting up a TV channel in Germany.
“We are currently analysing whether there might be a gap in Germany for a small free-to-air TV channel with a focus on acquired programming as the larger broadcaster move more and more towards original productions, and certain series and films are no longer in demand or have become cheaper to acquire,” CEO Dominik Kaiser told German industry newsletter DWDL.
“We would only do that, if at all, if we find a like-minded partner. At the moment we are talking to various possible partners. For us alone, the German market would be one size too big,” Kaiser added.
In Switzerland, 3 Plus Group operates the advertising-financed free-to-air TV channels 3+, 4+, 5+ and 6+.
