Turkey’s first Turkish-Armenian TV channel has made its debut.
Quoting Aram Kuran, the channel’s head, Hurriyet reports that it is broadcasting news in Western Armenian every Friday night and also has live broadcasts two days a week.
It adds that work on the channel, known as Luys (‘Light’) TV, started nearly two years ago.
Luys TV will include news items from Anadolu Agency translated intro Armenian. Furthermore, although most of its programmes will be in Armenian, some will also be Turkish.
The public broadcaster TRT has given Luys TV access to its archive.
Hurriyet notes that Aram Kuran has thanked Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his support during the set up of Luys TV.
