Moldova ended the first quarter with 331,200 pay-TV subscribers, or 0.5% more than three months earlier.
At the same time, according to the regulator ANRCETI, the volume of sales was, at MDL41.4 million (€2 million), 7% higher than in the same period a year earlier. Meanwhile, APRU increased by 5.6% to MDL41.8.
The number of coaxial cable subscribers stood at over 167,300 at the end of Q1, down 1.6% on the total three months earlier.
The IPTV total stood at 163,400 (+2.6%) and there were also 457 customers using MMDS technology. All told, 64.2% of subscribers received digital services and 35.8% analogue.
Pay-TV penetration per 100 inhabitants increased by 0.1 percentage points in the three months to March 31 to 9.3%.
Moldtelecom was the leading provider of pay-TV services in terms of turnover in Q1, with a market share of 34.4%.
It was followed by Sun Communications (16.9%) and TV Box (14.5%), with the remainder claiming a combined total of 34.2%.
