Poland’s Court of Competition and Consumer Protection has reduced a fine imposed on the incumbent telco Orange Polska.
In a summary of the case, the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) says that it dates back to August 2017, when it found that Orange Polska violated the rights of consumers.
This was done by not informing them in promotions about additional fees they would incur for receiving its Neostrada service without having a landline.
UOKiK notes that although it initially imposed a fine of over PLN16 million (€3.74 million) on the telco, this was subsequently reduced to over PLN13 million by the court in April due to the practice having being applied by Orange during the pre-contractual period.
