Netflix has confirmed a price increase that will see the cost of the streaming service rise by up to £2 per month.
The company says the increase reflects the “significant investments” its made in new shows including After Life, Black Mirror and The Crown.
As of Thursday the cost of a standard plan, which allows subscribers to watch on two screens at a time, will increase by £1 to £8.99 to new customers.
The premium package that permits viewing on four screens – and including Ultra HD – rises by £2 to £11.99.
The entry level basic package remains on £5.99.
Existing subscribers will be charged from their next monthly payment.
A spokesman for Netflix said: “We change our prices from time to time to reflect the significant investments we’ve made in new TV shows and films, as well as improvements to our product. We have more than 50 productions planned in the UK this year, including new seasons of Black Mirror, Sex Education and After Life.”
