Czech police have revealed details of a second group of pirates who illegally streamed Premier League and other sports events, the exclusive broadcasting rights to which are held by Digi CZ.
According to Digi CZ, two pirates in question have already agreed to settle out of court rather than risk criminal proceedings.
The Vsetin District Attorney’s Office therefore conditionally suspended the prosecution of one offender this month and set a one-year trial period.
Meanwhile the second offender paid damages before their trail began and the case is expected to be postponed by the Czech police. Both also provided the rights holder with a written apology.
Dig CZ, which is represented by the Prague law firm Aurixa, monitors illegal transmissions on the internet and submits criminal complaints to the perpetrators. It claims to be very successful in sanctioning pirates and motes that offenders face up to two years in prison, rising to five years if they make large or regular earnings from their actions.
Digi CZ made an announcement on the first group of pirates in early February this year.
