German media company Hubert Burda Media will terminate its streaming service TV Spielfilm live on June 30, 2019 and will only continue the digital programme guide.
Burda’s cooperation partner Zattoo, which has provided TV Spielfilm live with its TV streaming technology since its launch in July 2015, will take over the current users. They will receive a welcome offer allowing them to use the Zattoo Premium package free of charge for two months.
This gives them access to over 100 TV channels, including 70 in HD quality, as well as functions for time-shifted television and online TV recordings. Subsequently, the regular subscription price of €9.99 per month is charged; the subscription can be cancelled monthly.
From June, TV Spielfilm will link directly to Zattoo from its digital programme guide. This will allow users to continue watching the live TV programme they are interested in with just one click.
It became apparent that TV Spielfilm live was in difficulties when the free package was closed in autumn 2019. The partnership with Telefónica Deutschland for o2’s TV offer was also discontinued. After Magine TV, TV Spielfilm live is the second TV streaming service to give up in the German market.
Meanwhile, Zattoo continues to expand its offer: The service can now be controlled on smart TV sets using voice commands via Google Assistant. A separate app is not necessary.
