France Télévisions is to launch a dedicated UKD 4K channel for the duration of Roland Garros 2019.
France TV Sport UHD 4K will run for 24-hours-a-day and will run in partnership with the French Tennis Federation.
14 Ultra High Definition cameras will be placed on the central Philippe Chatrier court.
“This channel is the culmination of 9 years experimentation. Roland Garros has always been for France Televisions an experimental laboratory and today this becomes concrete and visible to the public,” said Frédéric Brochard.
There’s an estimated 5 million UHD TVs in France, a figure that is increasing by 1 million a year.
The channel is being distributed on DTT, satellite (Fransat) and Orange. It’s expected to return for the 2020 Olympic Games.
