Dutch content company OD Media launches in the UK

May 20, 2019 11.26 Europe/London By Robert Briel

ODMedia, the content services and processing company for on-demand media, has launched in the UK.

The new London-based company — ODMediaUK — is to be led by media entertainment management consultancy Media Minds, headed by ex-Visual Data executives Anita O’Donnell and Yives Reed.

With Media Minds’ guidance, ODMediaUK will offer a suite of commercial and technical services designed to help IP-owners to optimise content exploitation and distribution to both local and global platforms. O’Donnell and Reed launched Media Minds in early 2018, with the mission of bridging the gap between technology and content, people and platforms, and providing IP-owners with the intelligence, strategy and expertise to exploit their content in the fast-moving digital-processing and distribution marketplace. Netherlands-based ODMedia Group offers a 360-degree package of video-content services, from content aggregation, Muiti Channel Network (MCN) services, delivery to OTT platforms and broadcasters.

The ODMedia Group, headquartered in the Dutch city of Utrecht, is going through a period of rapid expansion. Last year, its turnover surged by 20% year-on-year, driven by its growing network of European offices. In the last 12 months, ODMedia has opened subsidiaries in Belgium, Scandinavia and Spain, with a German launch planned for later this year.

Yives Reed Co-Founder of Media Minds said: “Anita and I have been on the sharp edge of content-processing and distribution for almost 20 years, so we know when we see an impressive team and organisation. ODMedia is that. It’s not only flexible, nimble and very good at it what it does, but it’s also a company that sees its relationship with clients as a true partnership firstly on a commercial level leveraging IP to maximise revenue and secondly by providing best in class customer service.”

ODMedia has strategic partnerships with all the global OTT platforms and has been awarded ‘preferred partner’ status by iTunes and is a Netflix Preferred Fulfilment Partner, recognising its ability to provide one of the lowest redelivery rates in Europe. In addition to offering the full range of technical-delivery services, ODMedia acts as an aggregator for the major platforms, providing digital-rights management, monetisation, target audience development and cross-promotion. It also manages linear and non-linear channel playout for SVOD, AVOD and TVOD.

Sjef Pijnenburg, CEO ODMedia Group, said “The digital distribution market is globalising. We need to access local markets to assist rights holders with their global release strategy. I am extremely pleased to have Yives and Anita on board. Our rapid growth and strategic plans for global rollout can only be managed successfully with key professionals like them.”

In April, ODMedia’s global roll-out was boosted by the appointment of ex-KPN, Endemol and Foxmobile executive William Linders. Joining ODMedia’s management team as partner and chief commercial officer, Linders is driving the group’s international growth strategy, harnessing the opportunities presented by the surge in on-demand viewing and the growing power of the global distribution platforms.
