Rostelecom grows TV business as profit shoots up

The Russian telco Rostelecom saw its pay-TV subscriber base grow by 3.3% to 10.2 million in the year to March 31.

Over half (5.4 million) was for IPTV services, an 8% increase on the previous year.

Pay-TV (B2C) ARPU in Q1 amounted to R249 (€3.43), up 5% on a year earlier, while that for IPTV was R317 (+3%).

In its latest set of results the company also says that its internet subscriber total grew by 0.5% to 13 million in the year to March 31.

At the same time the number of MVNO subscribers increased by 43% to 1.3 million, while those receiving local telephony services fell by 9% to 17 million.

Rostelecom’s revenues in Q1 amounted to R78,667 million (+3%) and OIBDA R26,381 million (+12%), while its profit was 46% higher at R5,631 million.
