Sunrise launches OTT TV service with 4K

May 9, 2019 14.07 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

Swiss network operator Sunrise has launched a multiscreen TV platform as an OTT service, offered as an app for Apple TV, smartphones and tablets (iOS/Android) as well as via the web for PCs and laptops.

Sunrise TV neo includes live and time-shifted TV streaming, cloud storage for up to 500 hours of recordings, 7-day catch-up TV and a download function for mobile devices. Through the split-screen function, up to four channels can be watched on mobile devices at the same time.

The line-up comprises over 230 TV channels, more than 110 in HD quality. Sunrise TV neo is the only OTT TV app in Switzerland supporting Ultra HD/4K, according to Sunrise, and offers the channel Insight TV UHD at launch. By summer 2019, further UHD channels will be added.

The app can be used on up to six devices at the same time, for example smartphones, tablets, PCs or Apple TV. It will be made available on further devices at a later stage, e.g. Chromecast.

Two subscriptions are offered: For CHF5 (€4.40) per month, Sunrise TV neo can be used as a single stream for smartphones, tablets or via the internet browser for PCs/laptops. For CHF20 (€17.50) per month, customers receive Sunrise TV neo max which additionally includes access via Apple TV and on up to six devices at the same time. Both subscriptions don’t have a minimum contract period.

The Apple tvOS application with single sign-on operator login for Sunrise TV neo has been designed and developed by Dutch TV service provider Stoneroos.
