Subscriber erosion at Telenor’s Canal Digital eased slightly in the first quarter of 2019.
A fall of 16,000 subscriber homes was significantly less than the 46,000 who departed in the same period in 2018.
Across the Broadcast division higher revenues at transmission company Norkring and an increase in the amount of satellite capacity sold was not enough to compensate for an overall 3% reduction in DTH subscriber volumes.
Canal Digital revenues stood at NOK 1,066m (€110m). Broadcast’s total revenues were NOK 1,448m.
But the Canal Digital story is not the complete picture of Telenor’s TV interests. In the Norwegian market, the combination of TV and fibre its doing its best to make up for falls in fixed line telephony.
TV ARPU increased by NOK 16 a month as subscriber numbers increased by another 3 to 553.
