Russia ended the first quarter with 43.525 million pay-TV subscribers.
This, according to the latest research published by Telecom Daily, was 150,000 more than three months earlier and equivalent to a penetration rate of over 78%.
Two of the country’s top five operators – Rostelecom and MTS – accounted for over 90% of new connections in the quarter.
The market leader Tricolor ended Q1 with 12.228 million subscribers. It was followed by Rostelecom with 10.280 million, with third-placed ER Telecom claiming 3.74 million customers, MTS 3.634 million and Orion 3.092 million.
In terms of market share, Tricolor was in top spot with 28%, followed by Rostelecom (23%), ER Telecom (9%), MTS (8%), Orion (7%) and others.
ARPU in Russia’s pay-TV market in Q1 stood at R180 (€2.51).
