M7 Group and Vestel partner for hybrid smart TV app

April 24, 2019 09.00 Europe/London By Robert Briel

M7 Group has reached an agreement with TV manufacturer Vestel to integrate M7’s hybrid smart TV app into the latest generation of Vestel produced smart TVs.

For the various markets M7 operates in (Netherlands, Belgium, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany and Austria), Vestel produced smart TVs are available under various brands, including Toshiba, Hitachi, JVC, Finlux and Telefunken.

The hybrid smart TV app developed by M7 allows users of Vestel produced smart TVs, all equipped with built-in satellite tuners, seamless access to both M7’s linear and non-linear TV content in HD and UHD quality through a central user interface and without the need of a set top box. Furthermore, by connecting the smart TV to the internet, it offers numerous interactive features (e.g. live restart, pause TV, access to media libraries etc.) and digital services like cloud recording and electronic programme guide.

In May 2018, M7 launched its smart TV app on Samsung smart TVs, while in September 2018, M7 Group reached an agreement with TV manufacturer LG Electronics to integrate the M7 TV app.

M7’s hybrid smart TV app will be available on all Vestel produced smart TVs. In addition to accessing entertainment and digital services via smart TV’s, M7 also provides access to these services via an app on mobile devices, enabling a seamless viewing experience when switching between the various screens.

“We are very happy about the cooperation with M7 Group for the implementation of M7’s hybrid smart TV app on Vestel produced smart TVs which will provide huge user benefits by allowing viewers to enjoy both linear and non-linear TV programs seamlessly in brilliant picture quality”, said Hakan Kutlu, Vice President of Marketing and Product Management, Vestel.

“We are delighted with the partnership with such an experienced, innovative and market leading TV producer like Vestel, recognizing the huge market potential for integrated hybrid smart TV apps. With the M7 CI+ module integrated in the TV set, Vestel produced smart TV users will benefit from an even wider range of exciting TV viewing functions”, said Hans Troelstra, CEO of M7 Group.
