With a market share of 57%, DTH satellite remains the most-used TV reception method in Austria.
2 million of the 3.57 million Austrian TV households have opted for satellite TV, according to the Astra TV-Monitor 2018. Cable TV remains the second most-used TV reception method with a market share of 31% followed by IPTV (9%) and DTT (5%).
HDTV continued its growth course in 2018: 2.97 million Austrian households received HD channels at the end of the year. In 2017, the share amounted to 2.89 million. The development is driven by DTH satellite: 1.73 million of the 2 million satellite households have HD reception equipment (2017: 1.65 million).
