Orange plans to invest in expanding its own fibre-optic network in Romania in 2019.
Quoting a financial report from the company, Ziarul Financiar adds that Orange will enter the market for retail customers and beyond areas it currently has access via the network of its competitor Telekom Romania.
Orange currently has access to part of Telekom’s fibre-optic network, and to urban infrastructure, which covers 2.3 million households.
In total, Telekom’s fibre network reached 2.8 million homes at the end of last year.
Orange claimed a 6% of Romania’s fixed telecoms market in 2018, or two percentage points more a year earlier.
