IPTV accounted for over half (54.3%) of all pay-TV homes in Slovenia at the end of last year.
According to figures published by the regulator AKOS, this was up from 53.1% in the same period in 2017.
Cable was the second most popular mode of reception, claiming for 39.1% (40.5%) of subscribers, followed by DTH with 5.4% (5.1%) and MMDS 1.2% (1.3%).
In the IPTV sector, Telekom Slovenije was the market leader, with a share of 50.3%. It was followed by T-2 (32%), A1 Slovenije (16.6%), Telemach (0.6%) NHM Sevnica (0.2%) and others (0.2%). Meanwhile, Telemach was the undisputed market leader in the cable sector with a share of 71.7%.
AKOS notes that the popularity of quad play packages continued to grow in Slovenia in 2018 and had a market share of 39.2% at year’s end. Meanwhile, triple play fell to 35.1% and double play to 10.4%.
The market share of autonimous broadband connections, in which IP telephony, broadband internet access and IPTV were included, stood at 9.5%.
