Netflix is to source productions from the Polish company Next Film, which is owned by Agora.
Quoting Robert Kijak, the president of Next Film, Wirtualne Media reports that the cooperation between the two companies already encompasses 21 titles.
Kijak said: “since March this year Next Film has cooperated with Netflix, which enables the users of this platform to watch films coproduced and distributed by the company. The currently available titles from the Next Film portfolio will be joined by other movie titles – the cooperation includes 21 titles so far. Depending on the movie, Netflix determines its broadcasting time on the platform.
“Netflix is another important distribution partner for us – the VOD platform is an attractive way to share movie titles, complementing the existing distribution channels. We are happy that many of our films will reach a wide range of Polish users of this popular platform this way”.
Netflix already obtains Polish content from the distributors Kino Swiat and Alter Ego Pictures, with AXN Polska also providing series for the SVOD service.
Netflix launched 1983, its first Polish original series, late last year.
