Media Group Ukraine (MGU) has criticised the disconnection of a number of transmitters in the country by the Broadcasting, Radiocommunications and Television Concern (BRT).
In a statement, it has called on the Council of Ministers to pay attention to the BRT, which owes significant amounts to money to energy companies in various parts of Ukraine.
Most recently, the disconnection of broadcasting signals have taken place in several parts of the Lugansk region.
MGU adds that following the transition from analogue to digital broadcasting the BRT has had more than six months to optimise its activities, agree on debt restructuring and bring its costs into line with income. Instead of setting up business processes it is trying to justify the need to raise the tariffs for its services.
MGU concludes by calling on the Council of Ministers to draw attention to the non-market position of the BRT, which also threaten’s the country’s information security.
