SPI launches first global Turkish drama channel

SPI/FilmBox has launched what is the first global Turkish drama channel.

Initially announced in October 2018 and created in partnership with Ay Yapim, one of Turkey’s top producers, Timeless Drama Channel has over 800 hours of fresh content including the eight globally acclaimed Turkish TV series Karadayi, Black Money Love, 20 Minutes, Kurt Seyit & Shura, Moms and Mothers, Red Scarf, Five Brothers and The End.

Commenting on the launch, Berk Uziyel, CEO at SPI International, said: “ The launch of Timeless Drama Channel will be a game changer in the global TV industry. It will build the global success of Turkish dramas and will connect with audiences all over the world.

“In a short amount of time, Turkey has become the second biggest TV series exporter in the world and Timeless Drama Channel is the first channel dedicated to Turkish dramas that will be broadcast globally. We are certain that it will reach millions of drama genre lovers all over the world and contribute immensely to the growth of the Turkish drama series industry”.

The channel will initially be broadcast in 10 languages including Bulgarian, Romanian, Macedonian, Serbian, Croatian, Albanian, and Arabic with English subtitles.

It will be distributed throughout Europe on Eutelsat 16A.

SPI/FilmBox has already signed broadcast agreements with six operators: Kujtesa and Ipko Kosovo, Digi-Alb and RTL Albania, A1 Croatia and A1 mMacedonia.

It will also be made available by multiple operators in MENA and APAC, the Baltics and CIS in the near future.
