The MGM Channel has been removed from the list of foreign channels allowed to be distributed in Ukraine.
In a statement, the regulator National Council says that this follows its monitoring of the channel, as well as a letter from the regulatory authority in Germany, where the service is registered.
It adds that during its monitoring of foreign services The MGM Channel’s logo failed to appear. As a result, it made an appeal to the German regulator to confirm or deny that the channel had been terminated or to explain the changes that had taken place to the service that uses the MGM Channel logo.
In response, it was informed that an extension of The MGM Channel had been terminated on December 31,2014 and its broadcasting licence cancelled in early 2017.
Taking this into account, National Council has therefore decided to remove The MGM Channel from the list of permitted services in Ukraine.
As previously reported by Broadband TV News, MGM HD Channel ceased broadcasting in Germany at the end of 2016.
