Viacom appoints German Groba

Viacom International Media Networks has appointed German Groba as SVP of Youth & Music and Kids & Family brands for VIMN’s Southern & Western Europe, Middle East and Africa (SWEMEA) business cluster.

German will be responsible for the management of the Youth & Music and the Kids & Family brand portfolios, including MTV and Nickelodeon, across Spain, Portugal, Italy, France, Benelux, GSA, Greece, Malta and Turkey, as well as Africa and the Middle East. He will be responsible for programming strategy for linear and multiplatform formats, content acquisitions, localisation and operations, talent and artist management, marketing as well as the creative side for the brand portfolios.

German will be based in Madrid and report to Raffaele Annecchino, President and Managing Director of VIMN SWEMEA.

‘I’m proud to announce German Groba has been appointed as our SVP for the Youth and Music and Kids and Family brands,’ said Raffaele Annecchino, President and Managing Director of VIMN Southern and Western Europe, Middle East and Africa, ‘German has had a successful career that spans music and television, and has experience directing both youth and children’s entertainment. His background and international track record make him an excellent fit for the team and the perfect choice to lead these brands forward.’

‘I am excited for this new opportunity to join VIMN again,’ said German Groba, ‘I was part of MTV Networks for a long period during my career and I am delighted to be returning to Viacom and be given the responsibility to lead the strategy and the diverse and talented teams working on these great brand portfolios across the cluster.’

Prior to joining VIMN, German worked for seven and a half years at The Walt Disney Company as Programming Content Director for Disney Channels Latin America. He also held roles at Claxson as Programming Director for Latin America & Iberia, and was Director of Programming VH1 Latin America for MTV Networks. German has also held positions at EMI Music and Warner Music.
