The number of IPTV subscribers in Moldova increased by 14.1% in 2018 and amounted to 159,200 at year’s end.
At the same time, according to the latest data published by the regulator ANRCETI, the number of cable TV subscribers fell by 7.7% to 170,000.
There were a total of 329,700 pay-TV subscribers at the end of 2018, or 1.8% more than a year earlier, and revenues increased by 1.6% to MDL162.1 million (€8.24 million).
IPTV accounted for MDL79.1million (+6.8%) of the latter, and cable MDL82.8 million (-2.8%), with ARPU falling to 4.5% to MDL41.8.
Just over half (51.6%) of pay-TV subscribers used cable services, with the remainder opting for IPTV (48.3%) and MMDS (0.1%).
Furthermore, 62.5% received digital and 37.5% analogue services.
There were a total of 80 active pay-TV operators in the country, with the market leaders being Moldtelecom (34.6%), Sun Communications (19.6%) and TV Box (12.8%).
The remaining 77 companies claimed a combined share of 33%.
