Insight TV launches on Xumo in the US

April 2, 2019 16.36 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Insight TV has announced that its HD semi-linear channel and VOD service will be available in the US on Xumo and LG Channels, exclusively powered by Xumo, beginning March 31.

Xumo is a streaming service that offers viewers free access to premium local, over-the-air channels alongside internet-delivered channels in both a live and on-demand format.

LG Channels is integrated into 85 percent of smart TVs available in the US and is also available as an application on streaming devices. Insight TV’s channel will provide Xumo viewers with linear and on-demand options.

“We are excited to partner with Insight TV and showcase their adventure-focused storytelling,” said Xumo’s vice president of partnerships and programming, Anthony Layser.

“The entertainment vertical on Xumo grew by 5.4% in terms of total time watched in March over February so we are looking forward to offering a new premium channel to our engaged and loyal audiences.”

This latest partnership further cements Insight TV’s commitment to distributing to smart TVs and millennial audiences. Reports show that smart TV services have traditionally been viewed by older millennials, but are gaining traction rapidly with the younger demographic as more connected TVs are sold and activated globally. This correlates with Insight TV’s target audience; millennials seeking premium, adventurous content starring globally renowned influencers and social creators.

Arun Maljaars, director content and channels, Insight TV says, “TV audiences want a range of programmes that reflect their ideals and aspirations. Authenticity is at the heart of Insight TV’s philosophy and our viewers eagerly follow along as we take them through an exciting world of adventure.”
