Internet ad spend in Russia amounted to R203 billion (€2.73 billion) in 2018, or 22% more than the previous year.
At the same time, reports Kommersant. quoting data produced by the Association of Communication Agencies of Russia (AKAR), TV ad spend rose by a more modest 9% to R187 billion.
It adds that R16 billion different in spend between the two media in the internet’s favour contrasts with the R4 billion more that TV earned than the internet in 2017.
Interestingly, internet services in 2018 also for the first time entered the top 10 main product categories on TV advertising, with a 5% share.
Total ad spend in Russia in 2018 amounted to R468.7 billion, excluding VAT, or 12% more than the previous year.
Radio was unchanged at R16.9 billion, while outdoor grew by 3% to R43.8 billion and print fell by 12% to R18 billion.
