Vivendi has earmarked Poland as one of the foreign markets in which it will launch its on demand service myCanal.
Speaking to Wirtualne Media, Piotr Kaniowski, head of corporate, technology and offers at the DTH platform nc+, confirmed the news first given by Arnaud de Puyfontaine, president and general director, Vivendi, when discussing the company’s plans last month.
Nc+ currently operates its own VOD service named nc+ Go and also works with Player+, owned by TVN and Discovery Polska. At this stage it remains unclear as to where or not myCanal will replace nc+ Go and be offered only to nc+ customers, or indeed be made available as a standalone service to the wider public.
Meanwhile, Maciej Maciejowski, a member of the board at TVN and Discovery Polska, said that Player and myCanal are completely different products and that in his view there is room for both in the Polish market.
