Russia’s leading pay-TV operator Tricolor TV has launched a smart home service.
It allows its customers to handle smart home devices from a TV screen or using a mobile application on iOS or Android and has been made possible after updating the software on the consoles compatible with the service.
Commenting on the development, Pavel Steshin, director of government relations and external communications of Tricolor, said: “The modern world is changing very quickly, the number of devices and gadgets around us is increasing. We are convinced that the big screen enables a person to comfortably interact with digital services and opportunities, including the smart home. Owing to Tricolor’s affordable solution price (the control module cost is R1,190), the smart home becomes really affordable”.
The system can work locally, without access to the internet. When connected to the network, the customer makes use of additional features for more comfortable use of the service such as remote control and receipt of push notifications.
Smart home devices initially became available for sale in Central and Southern Russia in late February. The will be available in all parts of the country by the end of this month.
