Eurosport Romania has secured a new three-year agreement with the Premier League from the 2019/20 season.
The Discovery-owned broadcaster says the deal strengthens Eurosport’s position as the Home of English Football in Romania and follows its recent acquisiton of FA Cup rights until 2021.
Victoria Davies, SVP Country Manager Discovery Networks CEE, Mediterranean and Central Asia, said: “The renewal of the rights clearly shows the strategic importance of the Romanian market in Discovery’s portfolio across the region, bringing the most exciting football league in the world to millions of fans across a football-mad country”.
Fans will be able to watch the matches live on Eurosport and simulcast on EurosportPlayer, Eurosport’s live and on-demand service. There will also be local language commentary.
Live English Premier League football complements Eurosport’s offering for sports fans in Romania, which already includes live coverage of the four Grand Slams, the best cycling events on the calendar including the Giro d’Italia, Tour de France and La Vuelta, world-class snooker as well as a host of winter sports events throughout the season.
