Belgian Telenet serves 63% of homes passed

February 14, 2019 10.05 Europe/London By Robert Briel

At December 31, 2018 Telenet served 2,115,000 unique customer relationships, which represented approximately 63% of the 3,350,700 homes passed across the cabler’s Flemish and Brussels footprint.

The operator counted 4,853,800 fixed services, consisting of 1,939,900 video, 1,657,800 broadband internet and 1,256,100 fixed-line telephony subscriptions. 1,738,700 or 80% of all video customers took the extended digital offer.

The subscription VOD packages Play and Play More had 434,300 customers at December 31, 2018, up 9% compared to the prior year period.

At December 31, 2018, the operator served 232,400 Play Sports customers, which remained stable compared to the prior year period, and a slight improvement compared to Q3 2018.

In Q4 2018, Telent lost 26,300 net video subscribers, impacted by the higher churn in the acquired Brussels footprint (SFR Benelux).

For the full year 2018, video revenue amounted to €582.4 million (Q4 2018: €146.3 million), which was broadly stable as compared to €581.5 million for the prior year.
